Subject Overview

At Bishop Challoner Catholic School we aim to provide a high quality geography education which inspire students to develop a fascination and curiosity about the world and its people that will remain with them for the rest of their lives.

Our topics should equip learners with knowledge about diverse places, people, resources, and environments, together with a deep understanding of the Earth’s key physical and human processes. The skills and activities geography students cover (collaboration, analysing evidence, problem-solving, making decisions and critically evaluating information, ideas and viewpoints) stands them in good stead for further education and the workplace.

The geography team are ready to assist students beyond the classroom should the need arise.

Extra-Curricular Opportunities

Fieldtrips are an important part of geography and inspiring curiosity about our world.

We are looking at the opportunities on offer in each year group to grow our current provision.  Residential trips to Iceland take place and are very popular with our students.

The Eco-school’s group is also part of the geography department.  We meet weekly on a Wednesday lunchtime to help improve out local environment.
